Katie walked into the great hall, it was the first breakfast of the year, and for some reason Dumbledore thought it would be a good idea to combine all the tables together into one big one so all the houses could mingle together. For nine 'o' clock in the morning it was pretty quiet, just a few people sat at the table. She expected them all to come soon enough.

Katie studied the table, looking for someone familiar, but failed to see anyone she even barely recognised. She tok a seat near the center of the table and grabbed a peice of toast. Then without putting anything on it took a bite from it. She smiled at the warmth of the toast, she really hoped more people would come soon, so she could talk to someone.

Lily made her way into the Great Hall, a little sleepy but ready for some breakfast. She had a slow start that morning, not really wanting to get out of bed but knew her grumbling stomach wouldn't allow her to stay. She also wanted to get an early start on some schoolwork, she wouldn't let herself fall behind.

She smiled as she walked through something looking quite different. The tables were all together, it was like the Houses were united."Good luck with that."She thought to herself as she made her way to the table. She spotted Katie, a Ravenclaw that she didn't exactly know all to well but they had classes together over the years. She sat near her and gave her a smile."Hi there this sure is interesting."She said, regarding the whole united table situation."I'm Lily by the way."She said, pushing her red hair out of her face. She hadn't really bothered to do anything with before coming to breakfast.

She smiled back at Katie and nodded."Yep, Lily here, and your Katie right."She said, pretty sure that was her name. If not she was going to feel a bit stupid. She laughed a bit as she heard what Katie said, shaking her head."I don't know why he does the things he does, but he must think that someone will actually benefit from this."She said."Meet new people, make new friends, he obviously needs to live a day in our shoes."She said with a small smile. Every house always stuck together to a certain extent. Now of course there were people that had other friends in other houses, but it wasn't like everyone mixed well together.
